Leadership Development

Personal Practice. Social Process. Competitive Advantage.

Leadership Development

Personal Practice. Social Process. Competitive Advantage.

"A year later I feel like I have now been so regularly practicing the concepts I learned that they are second nature and very easy to integrate into my daily commitments."

-Participant in year-long leadership development program

We’re never perfect. We’ll never be done learning. Circumstances change. People change. (Hopefully we change!) We don’t get to be declared “leaders” and be done. Leadership is a practice that requires real attention and care.

We believe that leadership is a personal practice. Practice is the key word for us when we think about leadership.

Our customized programs build the capacity, connection, and shared language that support leadership as a personal practice, expand it to leadership as a social process and create teams and cultures that can leverage leadership as a competitive advantage.

Recent Leadership Development projects have included:

  • Designing and delivering one and two day workshops,
  • Creating year-long leadership programs,
  • Building small cohort leadership programs,
  • Coaching CEOs and other executives,
  • And facilitating leadership team meetings and discussions.

Engaged Communication

Individual Voices. Shared Understanding. Team Commitment.

Engaged Communication

Individual Voices. Shared Understanding. Team Commitment.

"I'm still carrying the facilitation training you did for us forward in every aspect of my life. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought to myself, 'What would Jami and Leslie recommend in this situation? That has saved me, and our meetings, so many times already. THANK YOU."

-Facilitation training participant

We communicate in every interaction every day. Whether it’s a one-on-one session, a team meeting or a big presentation, whether it’s written, in-person, or via webinar or conference call, we’re constantly communicating. How can we do that in a way that moves us toward understanding and commitment?

We believe that people are hungry for real conversation.

Our Engaged Communication projects are customized to reflect the current talents and circumstances of our clients so they can maximize the time and energy they spend on communications. Teams function best when there is shared understanding and a commitment to finding the most effective way forward. That happens when teams are able to articulate things in a shared language that leads to shared understanding.

Some of our recent Engaged Communication projects have included:

  • supporting senior leaders as they find their own voice,
  • engaging leaders in developing language that makes meaning of organizational culture and values,
  • supporting leaders in presentations and communications, and
  • delivering workshops on how to deliver productive and courageous confrontation messages.

Kick-Ass Meetings

Engaging. Fun. Productive.

Kick-Ass Meetings

Engaging. Fun. Productive.

“This was a very very productive day. It is very clear that when we’re all together, we can collaborate and really make a positive impact.”

-Participant in annual kick off meeting

We spend too much time in stupid meetings. You know it’s true. We ask people to take time out of their busy schedule to come to meetings thinking that it will be great to get everyone together and tell them all of the exciting things that are happening. Then they leave feeling like they’ve wasted their time. Have you been to any of those? Have you planned any of those?

We believe that meetings and retreats provide a very real opportunity for connection, learning, and inspiration – but only if they are thoughtfully designed, well facilitated and purposeful.

The meetings we design and facilitate create space for people come together and work – to plan, to share information, to make decisions, to have conversations, to tackle problems and to celebrate success. Our planning and how we pay attention to the space makes a meeting more than just a meeting – it’s a gathering, a very real opportunity to gather people so that together we can build the common experiences that get work done.

We’ve designed and facilitated SO many kick ass meetings including:

  • Planning retreats,
  • Full company multi-day offsites,
  • Training sessions,
  • Annual kick off meetings,
  • Semi-annual senior leadership team meetings
  • Team building (although we don’t particularly like this term!)
  • You name it!

Organizational Clarity & Culture

Clear Values. Intentional Culture. Aligned Action.

Organizational Clarity & Culture

Clear Values. Intentional Culture. Aligned Action.

“I realized that since we’ve grown so much, my job now is to get the best out of a smart, creative group of people and to get out of the way so that everyone’s capacity can be fully utilized. I need some new skills to be able to do that.”

-Company founder participating in our “Path to Clarity” process

We (humans in general) love clarity. We love being around people who have that special kind of confidence that comes from being clear about who they are and what they stand for. Lack of clarity is confusing at best and harmful at worst. The colleague who never quite says yes or no? Confusing. The boss who tells you one thing and then acts in a completely different way? Harmful.

We believe that when you’re clear about who you are and how you behave – as an individual and as an organization - people are attracted to you.

Through reflection, exploration and facilitated dialogue, we support individuals and teams in their quest to get to the powerful clarity that attracts and retains the right people, wins the perfect partners and clients, and that builds on the best of our past to grow into the future.

Organizational Clarity & Culture projects of late include:

  • Guiding leadership teams through processes that identify, articulate and share core values,
  • Walking founders through a series of steps to identify their personal core values and how those inform organizational values and behaviors,
  • Facilitating decisions to pivot to a new direction in response to changing circumstances,
  • And developing leadership development programs that reinforce values and behaviors in support of culture creation or change.
